Famous Mismatched Couples

Famous Mismatched Couples

MAR 1 featured image (1).jpgIT’S THAT TIME of year again: Verlo’s annual Mismatch Sale is finally here! This is when we gather all the discontinued or overstocked fabrics and pair them together to offer you mismatched mattress sets at reduced prices.

Smart shoppers know that what your mattress looks like shouldn’t matter — it’s the way it feels that counts! We think the same is true for romantic relationships. So what if one partner is a supermodel and the other is a plumber? Just like our mattresses, it’s how they feel that counts. And if they’re in love? Even better!

To celebrate Verlo’s Mismatch Mattress Sale, we thought it would be fun to take a look at some famous mismatched couples and see what makes them work — despite appearances.

Madonna and Dennis Rodman

MADONNA-AND-DENNIS-RODMAN 2.pngPop superstar Madonna and NBA power forward Dennis Rodman dated in the 1990s, baffling the world with the idea that they might start a family together. Madonna was super-sexy, while Rodman was aggressively strange in his personal style, sporting outlandish hair colors and makeup. Though the combination might not make us bat an eye today, at the time all anyone could say was, “What does she see in him?”

Mary Matalin and James Carville

Opposites do attract — even if they’re on different ends of the political spectrum. In 1992, Mary Matalin and James Carville worked on opposing political campaigns, she for George H. W. Bush and he for Bill Clinton. She’s a Republican-turned-Libertarian; he’s a Democrat. She’s from Chicagoland; he’s from the Deep South. The two wed in 1993 and have been happily married ever since — probably because they claim never to talk politics at home.

Kris Jenner and Corey Gamble

Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner, who’s 60-something, is dating 33-year-old Corey Gamble, a man best known for working with Justin Bieber’s manager. In addition to the age and race differences, they seem to have different personalities. He’s not known as a partier, while Kris Jenner lives for the white-hot spotlight of celebrity. No one knows if this relationship will last, but you’re sure to hear about it in the tabloids either way!

Alanis Morissette and Dave Coulier

When Alanis Morissette’s famously angry breakup song “You Oughta Know” came out shortly after her breakup with comedian Dave Coulier, the whole world was sure he was the jerk in the song who did her wrong. Maybe he is and maybe he isn’t, but it’s worth pausing to consider what a strange pair this was. She was an edgy pop star riding the indie/grunge wave, while he did corny one-liners on the sitcom “Full House.” Cut it out, indeed.

Cher and Tom Cruise

Back in the 80s, flamboyant singer and rising movie star Cher dated Tom Cruise, who was another up-and-coming actorat the time. She was reportedly crazy for him, despite the 16-year age gap and very different ideas about fashion. The two icons didn’t last thanks to being pushed apart by their busy schedules on the way to fame and fortune.

So no matter how mismatched a pairing seems on the surface, remember that they might go well together after all. In that respect, people and mattresses actually have a lot in common!
