MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Ten thousand people in Wisconsin are living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). In Wisconsin alone, last year's MS Walk raised $1.65 million to support the fight. Every year, the MS Walk brings the world one giant step closer to a cure.
To support these phenomenal efforts, Verlo Mattress Factory Stores (VMFS) of Greater Milwaukee announced its partnership and participation in the 2006 MS Walk. VMFS of Greater Milwaukee president Greg Gardetto said MS affects so many people in the community that he and fellow franchisee Mike Murphy decided to put their best foot forward for this worthy cause.
In fact, Verlo's very own lovable mascot, Mattress Man will be present at the start of the walk April 23 at Miller Park. The Mattress Man will participate in the 3.1-mile portion of the event, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
"More than just a fund-raising event, the MS Walk is a celebration of the entire community, Gardetto said. "The donations that stream in fund countless programs, services and research. The event itself creates a hope-filled and fun atmosphere for everyone affected by MS while generating much-needed awareness.
The MS Walk offers 3.1-mile, 7-5-mile and 15-mile route options. Check-in time is at 7:30 a.m. at Miller Park, Dodger Parking Lot. Please note that Miller Parkway will be closed northbound April 23. For more information, visit NationalMSSociety.org.
